I have not ridden a 1st gen but the 2nd gen Striple's have the taller 1st gear from the Daytona, thus the more grunt on the lower end and the propensity for power wheelies of the 1st gen. I had the good fortune to demo both the Speed Triple 1200 RS and the Street Triple (765) RS essentially back to back. For reference, I also demoed the Trident 660 too!
